Auftaktworkshop zum Projekt DouEurSAm über Douglasien-Mischwälder

Im Rahmen des internationalen Projekts „Douglasien in Mitteleuropa und Südamerika: Eine Kontinent-übergreifende Lösung für integrierte Waldbewirtschaftung oder eine potenzielle Bedrohung für natürliche Lebensgemeinschaften?“ (DouEurSAm) an der HFR haben unsere Projektpartner vom Instituto Forestal in Chile einen Auftaktworkshop mit den teilnehmenden Waldbesitzern und Forstberatern auf dem Anwesen Santa Rosalía in Lanco, Region Araucanía, organisiert.
An dem Projekt DouEurSAm sind neben der HFR und dem Instituto Forestal in Chile auch die Georg-August Universität Göttingen und die Eidgenössische Forschungsanstalt WSL aus der Schweiz beteiligt. Ziel ist es, die Vorteile und Risiken von Douglasien in Mischung mit einheimischen Laubbaum-Arten (Rot-Buche in Mitteleuropa und Nothofagus-Arten in Südamerika) im Vergleich zu Reinbeständen als nachhaltige Waldbewirtschaftungsstrategie zu bewerten.
Der Workshop richtete sich an die an der Studie beteiligten Waldbesitzer und Forstberater in Chile, in deren Beständen Untersuchungsflächen eingerichtet wurden. Im Laufe des Tages präsentierte das INFOR-Forschungsteam – bestehend aus Dr. Sabine Müller-Using, Joceline Rose und Joselyn Pinto – die wichtigsten bisherigen Fortschritte und validierte gemeinsam mit den Teilnehmern die Messungen, die in der nächsten Projektphase ab Ende November 2025 vor Ort in Chile durchgeführt werden sollen.

Kickoff Workshop in the Project DouEurSAm about mixed forests with Douglas fir
As part of the international project "Douglas fir in Central Europe and South America: A transcontinental solution for integrated forest management or a potential threat to natural communities?" (DouEurSAm) at the HFR, our project partners from the Instituto Forestal in Chile organized a kick-off workshop with the participating forest owners and forestry consultants in Chile at the Santa Rosalía estate in Lanco, Araucanía region.
In addition to the HFR and the Instituto Forestal in Chile, the Georg-August University of Göttingen and the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest Research WSL are also involved in the DouEurSAm project. The aim is to assess the benefits and risks of Douglas fir mixed with native species (beech in Central Europe and Nothofagus in South America) in comparison to pure stands as a sustainable forest management strategy.
The workshop was aimed at the forest owners and forestry consultants participating in the study. During the course of the day, the INFOR research team – consisting of Dr. Sabine Müller-Using, Joceline Rose and Joselyn Pinto – reviewed the most important progress made so far and, together with the participants, validated the measurements that will be carried out in the field in the next project phase starting at the end of November 2025.
