Student commitment

Take the opportunity to help shape and influence

  • life on campus,
  • your own well-being at the HFR and
  • the well-being of fellow students.

Learn how to work in a team, take responsibility and organise.

Certificate for social commitment

With the certificate for social commitment, your social and voluntary commitment is listed and honoured accordingly if you score enough points.

How does it work?

Take a look at the possible fields of work on the route map and have your commitment confirmed by the relevant organisations. You will then receive your certificate if you score 10 points. A full card can also be recognised as an achievement at the HFR Ethikum.

Questions?

Then get in touch with your AStA or the ZSB.

We look forward to you and your commitment!

Student Organizations

Organised student body (VS) moreless

The enrolled students of the HFR form the constituted student body (VS). It is a public corporation with legal capacity and, as such, a constituent body of the HFR. Its reintroduction was decided by the state parliament in 2012.

ORGANISATION OF THE VS
The central organs of the VS are the Student Council and the General Students' Committee (AStA).
The Student Council decides on the fundamental matters of the VS, including the statutes (legislative body). It consists of seven members elected for one year, the student senate members and, in an advisory capacity, the programme spokespersons. As a non-statutory body of the VS, the university groups also have an important advisory voice and organise a variety of student activities. Day-to-day business is managed by the AstA (executive body). It is made up of the chairperson and two officers.

Bible Study Group moreless

Gruppenfoto: Mitglieder des Bibelkreises an einem Gipfelkreuz

We meet every Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the Turmzimmer (tower room). Everyone is welcome—whether Catholic, Protestant, or from any other background.

As a group, we make music and sing together, talk and discuss various interesting topics related to the Bible, faith, and life. We also simply enjoy spending time together. Anyone who likes can also join us on Friday mornings for a shared prayer breakfast before classes begin.
The Bible Study Group is an ideal place to meet new people from different study programs and semesters. It’s helpful for exchanging tips about studying, but also for experiencing great activities together. Beyond our weekly meetings, we organize events such as a forest Christmas celebration, weekend cabin trips, waffle baking, barbecues, and hikes.

Just drop by—whether you are religious or not, we look forward to meeting you!

Do you enjoy singing, hiking, and sitting together around a campfire?
Then join our Scouts student group! We meet about twice a month, and we coordinate the exact dates in our WhatsApp group. Just send us an email and we’ll add you.

We are a group made up of members from various scouting associations, but of course we also welcome anyone with a general interest. Most cold evenings we spend in the Turmzimmer, singing together with guitar accompaniment. On warmer days, we meet at the barbecue area—good food included, naturally. In autumn, we are planning to organize a hike in the region.

Do you have any questions? Then get in touch with us or simply drop by!

IFSA - International FORESTRY STUDENTS ASSOCIATION moreless

Logo: IFSA

i. R. Stefan Ruge.

“Because the forest needs a new generation!”
The Young Forestry Network is the youth organization of the German Forestry Association (Deutscher Forstverein e.V.). It offers the next generation of foresters a platform to discuss “young topics,” build networks, and develop their own perspectives through diverse impulses.

Across state borders, the JNF provides a space for future oriented dialogue within the forestry sector and fosters an open culture of discussion. Through joint excursions, lectures, and discussions, students gain insights not only in theory but also through hands on experiences. Members can build contacts across different ownership types and even internationally, laying the foundation for research projects and future collaborations.

We are students interested in forestry related, industry specific, and career oriented topics—ready to engage in open dialogue and exchange ideas. We look forward to new faces, new perspectives, and new impulses from you.

The Hunting student group is currently being established with the goal of exploring various hunting related topics throughout the semester.

We are working on creating a framework for hunting related training opportunities, allowing interested students to explore topics and take part in excursions with support from the group. To make the most of these opportunities, there will be 3–4 focus topics per semester, which members can suggest at the beginning of each term.

We welcome all participants—with or without prior hunting experience—who want to expand their knowledge and skills.

Hunting horn section of the HFR moreless

Jagdhornbläsergruppe auf einer Bühne

The university's hunting horn group meets once a week for rehearsals during the lecture period. They play everything from classic hunting horn signals and hunters' marches to their own compositions. All in a very relaxed setting, with the odd beer or two. We play at the university's driven hunts, at Christmas markets and occasionally for "petrol money and a beer" on other occasions.

Are you a beginner, or do you lack the instrument?

Instruments and sheet music can be obtained free of charge from the university. A trumpet teacher from Tübingen will be available for all beginners.

All students are invited, regardless of their degree programme.

In the student group Hunting Shooting, students can train and improve their hunting related shooting skills. Our goal is to ensure that the “peak” of shooting ability is not reached only on the day of the shooting exam, but that students have the opportunity to continue practicing even after passing the test.

We cannot replace formal shooting training or regular practice sessions at a shooting range.

Training takes place using a simulation rifle. For this purpose, we have our own shooting cinema system as well as a virtual reality simulation. Various scenarios can be selected, allowing students to practice a wide range of situations. The simulation also provides feedback on shot placement and tracking behavior.

In the long term, we also plan joint visits to shooting ranges and additional group activities.

Interested? Then come to the Hunting Info Session!

We look forward to seeing you.

HFR Dog Handlers moreless

The student group was founded in 2018 to give students an opportunity to learn more about hunting dogs, complementing the lectures in the Forestry program. But everyone is welcome—both four legged and two legged friends. It doesn’t matter whether you already have a dog, are simply interested in dogs, or are thinking about getting one in the future.

We do not hold regular meetings. Instead, we meet at the kennel grounds whenever it suits us—to barbecue, let the dogs play, and spend time together. Our goal is to exchange knowledge about dogs and support each other in training. To stay up to date, we also try to expand our knowledge through small excursions and seminars.

If you’re interested, feel free to stop by the kennel grounds or send us a short email—we’d be happy to meet you.

We make music together—whether pop, rock, schlager, or film music. Simply whatever we feel like playing! With the pieces we rehearse, we perform at university parties and other events.

Who can join?

Everyone who plays an instrument—any instrument! Our diversity is what makes us unique.
Singers are also very welcome.

When and where?

We meet every Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Kienzle Building, Room SR EG.

What should you bring?

Your instrument, of course— and lots of enthusiasm for making music together.
