We orient ourselves to the fundamental principles of competence-oriented counselling. The counselling is tailored to the needs of the person seeking advice, it is solution-oriented and open-ended. The success of a consultation lies in the shared responsibility of the counselee and the counsellor. Orientation points in the counselling are the resources and competencies of the counselled. The support and counselling in the development and further enhancement of this potential is based on the counselling guidelines of the Rottenburg University of Applied Forest Sciences.

Advisory Guidelines of the HFR

  • The consultation is voluntary and free of charge.
  • The contents of the counselling sessions are treated with absolute confidentiality.
  • The counselling is intended to enable interested parties and students to make an independent decision that is satisfactory to them, with knowledge of their existing and required competencies/potentials.
  • It strengthens the self-competence of the counselled, it does not make decisions for them.
  • She places the questions and needs of the clients at the center.
  • The counselling provides the seekers with information so that they can make informed decisions.
  • The Central Student Advisory Service works closely with the respective subject-specific advisory services and other internal departments and is in close contact with external advisory centers. Questions that go beyond general counselling are forwarded to the appropriate counselling centers in consultation with the individuals seeking advice.
  • Active participation and reflection on the counselling by the clients are crucial for success and are seen as prerequisites for follow-up consultations.
  • The advisors continuously further their qualifications.
