Additional qualifications

In addition to the innovative curriculum, students have the opportunity to further develop their individual qualification profiles through a range of attractive additional courses, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in the labour market.
The additional qualifications offered in the degree programme are optional and not part of the regular compulsory curriculum.
Depending on the programme offered, additional costs may be associated with certain additional qualifications.

As a rule, the following additional qualifications are offered:

Foreign languages 

In addition to traditional foreign language courses such as English, French and Spanish, our students can take "any" foreign language they wish, provided that a group of at least ten people show a binding interest and a suitable teacher can be recruited.

DGNB Registered Professional 

With its interdisciplinary network and over 1,200 members worldwide, the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) is one of the highest-profile organisations when it comes to implementing sustainable and resource-conserving standards in the construction industry. We offer our students the opportunity to qualify as recognised sustainability experts with the official designation "DGNB Registered Professional" as part of an examination approved by the DGNB. This award recognises the outstanding training of our graduates in the field of resource-efficient construction by a renowned external institution. As a "DGNB Registered Professional", our graduates also fulfil the requirements for further training as a "DGNB Consultant" and "DGNB Auditor".

Certificate in Joinery and Carpentry Machinery

The TSM licence can be obtained by attending a corresponding five-day course. The maximum number of participants is eight. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis via the ILIAS portal.

Building energy consultant 

With the training to become a building energy consultant, students acquire the expertise to carry out on-site energy consultations independently. They are able to assess buildings in accordance with the EnEV, advise clients on possible refurbishment measures and draw up refurbishment roadmaps.

  • Energy Consultancy and Energy Efficiency Expert in Residential Buildings 
    You will learn how to evaluate the energy efficiency of buildings, make recommendations for refurbishment and carry out economic feasibility studies as part of an energy consultancy. During the course, you will also draw up an individualised refurbishment roadmap iSFP. 
    The course is structured in accordance with the BAFA criteria for "Energy Consultancy for Residential Buildings" (www.bafa.de/ebw). You will also acquire the qualification to be entered in the list of energy efficiency experts for the federal government's funding programmes for residential buildings (www.kfw.de/beg).
    After successful participation, you will also be authorised to issue energy certificates for residential buildings in accordance with the Building Energy Act (GEG).
  • Energy consulting and energy efficiency expert in non-residential buildings
    Building on the additional qualification in residential buildings, you will learn how non-residential buildings are assessed for energy efficiency in accordance with DIN V 18599 and how all certificates for energy consulting and for the development of efficient buildings – both in new and existing buildings – are prepared. 
    The course is structured in accordance with the BAFA criteria for "Energy consulting for non-residential buildings" (www.bafa.de/ebn). Furthermore, you will acquire the qualification to be entered in the list of energy efficiency experts for the federal government's funding programmes for non-residential buildings, DIN V 18599 (www.kfw.de/beg).
    After successful participation, you will also be authorised to issue energy performance certificates for non-residential buildings in accordance with the German Building Energy Act (GEG).
