Campus in the countryside
Germany's "University of Excellence" is perhaps the largest, contrary to expectations, if you include the teaching and research forest directly adjacent to the campus grounds with an area of almost 2,500 hectares. All degree programmes use the teaching and research forest for practical and scientific training.
Campus of short distances
The actual campus area of the HFR is anything but impersonal and large. The few buildings, in the middle of a landscape characterised by forests and orchards, ensure a familiar atmosphere and, above all, short distances. The short distances and manageable size enable individualised support for each student and therefore effective studies. All lectures take place directly on campus; there are no branch campuses.
Tradition meets modernity
The administration, student secretariat, canteen, part of the library, lecture theatres and offices are located in a charming former aristocratic residence with a lot of history and character. The large inner courtyard is a cosy place to eat and study when the weather is fine.
The research and laboratory building and the technical centre are state-of-the-art and offer ideal conditions for practice-orientated training and scientific work at the highest level. Our students and researchers work there with state-of-the-art technology and equipment to carry out innovative research projects and gain the latest scientific knowledge.
The Kienzle building is a modern seminar and office building with parts of the library and the computer centre. It also houses the GIS laboratory, a teaching and research facility with high-performance equipment and high scientific standards in the field of geoinformation.
In the workshop building with training workshop, the university's departments are supported in the preparation and realisation of practical exercises.
