What is Resource-Efficient Building?

The construction industry is the central engine of modern economies. The degree of technical expertise is still considered by many to be the most important guarantee for the qualitative performance of the industry. In fact, successful construction today can be measured first and foremost by the intelligent use of resources and organisational management. Although the finite nature of our resources and the need for their economically and ecologically efficient use are undisputed, the consistent transfer of knowledge and implementation in the area of resource efficiency is still in its infancy.

Given its substantial material consumption and economic significance, Rottenburg University of Applied Sciences is committed to ensuring that the construction industry takes a leading role in the teaching and implementation of resource-efficient practices. The scale and challenges of the sector and, consequently, the demands placed on construction processes, are expected to change significantly in the coming decades. Key players in the industry, in particular architects and engineers, are faced with the task of understanding, thinking and organising construction in a new way. We are laying the sustainable foundation for this with our innovative "Resource-Efficient Building" degree programme, which is unique in its structure in Germany.
